The Dome Bourse Tower View

“Les Grands Magasins de la Bourse”

Built as ‘Grands Magasins de la Bourse’ in 1872 as the first ‘department store’ on Belgian soil. The imposing multi-storey department store was built in a Haussmannian architectural style, around a large central open space, typical of the department stores of that period. After a major fire in 1948, the building was largely rebuilt and extended in Art Deco style, with only the mezzanine floor of the original building remaining.

Unveiling a true statement to architectural artistry

The Dome combines historical charm and modern design, thoughtfully integrated into its surroundings. Its architecture reimagines the historical style, drawing inspiration from Brussels’ rich heritage while introducing contemporary elements.

Symmetry, clean tines, and geometric precision define the facade, with vertical slats adding a modern touch. An elegant cornice with a canopy above the commercial plinth enhances the building’s prominence, while dormers and balconies from the 5th floor upward enrich its character. The 7th and 8th floors bring a distinctive charm, reinforcing the classic aesthetic. A tribute to Brussels’ architectural legacy, The Dome balances tradition and innovation in a striking, timeless design.
